Abstract
1,179,061. Printing-apparatus. K. S. PAUL (KOENIG & BAUER) Ltd. 17 Jan., 1967 [1 July, 1966], No. 2548/67. Addition to 1,176,472. Heading B6C. Apparatus, Fig. 1, for accurately locating printing blocks on carrier sheets of the type disclosed in Specification 1,176,472 comprises a cylinder 5 adapted to carry four carrier sheets, a guide sleeve 15 provided at one end with a stop collar 16, said sleeve being a sliding fit on a guide bar 6, a register arm 17 carrying a curved transparent window 19 and adjustably mounted on the sleeve 15, and a bar 7 carrying four stops 8, 8<SP>1</SP>, 8<SP>11</SP>, 8<SP>111</SP> which ensure that the sleeve 15 and thus the window 19 take up exactly repeatable axial positions with respect to the four carrier sheets. A pierced transparent proof print is attached to the concave side of the window by adhesive tape and a printing block is then inserted between the proof and the cylinder and is held in an adjusted position by suction from a pump 20. After a protective foil from a double-sided adhesive on the block has been removed the arm 17 is pivoted about the bar 6 and the block stuck to the respective carrier. Figs. 6 and 7 (not shown), depict a window modified by the provision of grooves (60) adapted to facilitate registration. Mounting-apparatus.-Each carrier sheet (34), Fig. 4 (not shown), is secured to the cylinder along one edge by engaging a row of holes along the edge with studs 38, Fig. 5, fixed in the cylinder and clamping the edge with a strip 35 which is movable towards the cylinder on screw-threaded studs 36 secured thereto. The other end of the sheet has holes engaged by spring-loaded pins (43). Each pin is provided with a finger knob (44).
