Abstract

1,178,179. Fuel cell electrodes. VARTA A.G. 20 March, 1967 [23 March, 1966], No. 13004/67. Heading H1B. [Also in Division C7] Contacts are attached to sintered porous fuel cell electrodes by sintering metal strips, e.g. Ag to one face of the electrode and attaching a current collector to the metal strip. The strip may be pressed on to the powder compact of the electrode and assembly is then hot-pressed. Metal powder can also be interposed between the electrode and the strip prior to sintering. As shown in Fig. 2, an electrode 1 has a metal strip 2 sintered thereto and a current collector 3 soldered to the strip. The electrode is enclosed by synthetic resin 8, the collector 3 passing through the bore 4 and the space between the electrode and the resin 8 and also the free part of the bore 4 being filled with an insulating hardening synthetic resin 6.
