[Also in Division F2] In an aircraft power plant, Fig. 1, a gas turbine or piston engine 12 drives a variable pitch propeller 18 through a clutch and a reduction gear unit 16 including an epicyclic reduction stage 92, Fig. 2, a cross-shaft 26 from the gear unit 16 allowing the engine 12 to drive a second propeller similar to 18 or a second engine to drive the propeller 18 through the reduction gear unit 16 on failure of the engine 12.
