Abstract

1,063,005. Evaporators; film-type. MACHINEFABRIEK J. & H. W. VANDER PLOEG, N.V. July 14, 1965 [July 15, 1964], No. 29813/65. Heading BIB. In an evaporator wherein the liquid flows in film-form down the inside surfaces of vertical tubes 6 surrounded by a heating- jacket, the top of the evaporator is provided with a perforated plate 3 disposed above the upper evaporator tube plate 5 but below the inlet 1 for the liquid to be evaporated, and tube sections 7 project upwards from the perforated plate, one tube section being above each evaporator tube. The lower ends of the tube sections 7 are flush with the underside of the distributor plate. The tube sections 7 are preferably arranged in concentric circles, and there is a perforation 4 in plate 3 between each pair of successive tube sections in each circle. Superheated liquid, e.g. milk, enters the evaporator through inlet 1 and some of it vaporizes. The liquid and vapour are then uniformly distributed into the evaporator tubes 6 through perforations 4 and tube sections 7, respectively. A centrifugal separator may be arranged at the top of the evaporator.
