Abstract

1,060,079. Stud & socket fastenings. F. T. PRODUCTS Ltd. Dec. 17, 1963 [Dec. 21, 1962], No. 48423/62. Addition to 1,036,423. Heading E2B. A fastener comprises a stud formed from a synthetic plastics material and having a head 15, and a shank 16 extending therefrom, the head 15 having a substantially circular and resilient main flange 18 adjacent the shank and a substantially circular retaining flange 17 spaced along the length of the head from the main flange, wherein the main flange is of greater diameter than the retaining flange and the shank is formed with a shoulder 25 intermediate its length, a longitudinal slot extending through the shoulder so as to allow the stem to collapse radially in the region of the shoulder and a circumferentially continuous nose 19. As shown in which the slot (23) Fig. 3 (not shown) is substantially W-shaped, the fastener is used to secure a trim pad 11 to a panel 12, the former having a key hole slot 27 of which a narrow portion is snap engaged by the head 15 prior to the engagement of the stem 16 with an aperture 26 in the panel 12. In another arrangement Figs. 6 and 7 (not shown), the stem, which is shorter than that of the first arrangement, is provided with a plain slot.
