Abstract

The device has a central processing unit (1) for checking the presence of an object (2), where each of the processing unit and the object has a transmitting/receiving device (6, 7, 18) for wireless transmitting/receiving of data that is used for implementing scanning cycles. The processing unit has a context recognition unit (9) for recognizing current context of the processing unit and the object. The processing unit has an adaptation unit (10) for adapting time and/or frequency of the cycles to the current context and provides an alarm signal independent of the current context.
