Cabrioletfahrzeuge werden heutzutage meist mit elektronischer Verdecktechnik angeboten. Hier kann der Fahrer per Knopfdruck dieses öffnen und verschließen. Marktbekannt sind außerdem gleichermaßen funktionierende Fensterheber oder Schiebedächer. Im Sommer jedoch lässt der Fahrer erfahrungsgemäß des öfteren das Verdeck bzw. Fenster oder Schiebedach gerne geöffnet auf dem Parkplatz stehen. Dabei bleibt die Diebstahlwarnänlage über den Stand-by- bzw. Nebenstromkreis aktiv. Fängt es dann aber plötzlich an zu regnen, bleibt der Innenraum ungeschützt, oft ohne das der Fährer dies rechtzeitig bemerkt und entsprechend handeln kann. Gleiches kann z.B. bei einem offenem Fenster während der Fahrt passieren wobei der Fahrer dann bei eigenhändigem verschließen für einige entscheidende Sekunden unaufmerksam ist.Convertible vehicles are now usually offered with electronic roof technology.
