Abstract

To detect the presence of antibodies specific for rheumatic- or inflammatory-type diseases, in particular for chronic polyarthritis, in a human or animal body fluid such as serum, a sample of the body fluid is placed in contact with a reagent containing a cell extract which includes an antigen or an antigen fraction with a molecular weight of 15 to 40 D. The antigen undergoes a linkage reaction with any antibodies present in the body fluid. A process for obtaining the cell extract is also described.
