Abstract

Método para reducir la emisión de agentes contaminantes de un motor de combustión interna que incluye al menos una cámara de combustión, método que comprende: la inyección de una emulsión combustible en la al menos una cámara de combustión; la ignición de la emulsión combustible en la al menos una cámara de combustión en presencia de aire; la operación del motor de combustión interna de manera de reducir la temperatura pico de combustión en la al menos una cámara de combustión; donde la emulsión combustible comprende un combustible hidrocarburo líquido, agua, al menos un emulsionante y al menos un compuesto orgánico soluble en agua con contenido de oxígeno. El uso de esta emulsión combustible permite obtener una reducción considerable de emisiones particuladas al tiempo que se mantiene o incluso se reduce aún más el nivel de NOx que ya es reducido por el motor propiamente dicho.
