Abstract
En el presente documento se describe un sistema de seguimiento para investigar el comportamiento de una red. En funcionamiento, cada conmutador de la red (o cada conmutador de algún subconjunto de conmutadores) puede determinar si cada paquete original que procesa satisface una o más reglas de detección de paquetes. Si es así, el conmutador genera un duplicado del paquete y envía ese paquete a un multiplexor de equilibrio de carga, que, a su vez, reenvía el paquete duplicado a un módulo de procesamiento para su posterior análisis. Las reglas de detección de paquetes alojadas por los conmutadores pueden diseñarse para seleccionar un subconjunto de paquetes que sean de mayor interés, basado en cualquier objetivo específico del entorno. Como resultado de este comportamiento, el sistema de seguimiento puede determinar con precisión, eficaz y rápidamente el comportamiento indeseable (y potencialmente deseable) de la red, sin ser abrumado con demasiada información.
