Yuan Dynasty. Robe with front badge with design of a falcon chasing a hare. Gold-brocaded lampas on silk twill damask. The Yuan badges appear to have been related not to rank but to occasion; robes bearing badges seem to have been worn for competitive leisure activities. For example, they were sometimes woven on to the front and back panels of the long robe worn for hunting. Length is 140 cm. Private collection, China.
