first public profile pic with the new model (though a slightly earlier version was used in a few places). definitely much better but didn’t look as good as I wanted it to be. at least it looked pretty good at small sizes.

public reveal of the late 2025 redesign of 3D me. massive improvement IMO, and this was really what I was trying to make (although the model continued to be tweaked since, the eyes were slightly adjusted afterward)

social media profile pic used until the new model. this is iteration 10 or something, i really struggled to get something i was satisfied with. but definitely a step above my last profile pic.

lomg. i intentionally made this image extremely tall so my tail just takes up a huge chunk of people’s mastodon timelines (though this only happens on the mastodon web client).

v2 badge prototype. fullbody rendered surprisingly well in such few pixels but would be too small at the size the badge would be seen. however, it was used as the basis for the v2 website logo.

rushed cleanup of the previous drawing of me (melvian). this was used on the ‘about’ page until the 3d rendition came around.

(Page) so i had a few words to say about discord’s custom typeface…

this logo was used as a profile pic in more ‘professional’ spaces like typo.social or typedrawers. it’s still on typedrawers, but the typo.social account merged with my main one on dragonchat.

profile pic used until around june 2025. i wanted to try a vectorized lineless style since i theorized it would render better for a profile pic than a lined style. it always felt kinda odd to me, but at least it looked real nice at super tiny sizes (which is usually when you’d see a pfp anyway). i did not realize how hard ‘3d’ shading is in this style until I did it. i then immediately realized that the only logical progression from this profile pic was an actual 3d rendition.

this was supposed to be a throwaway sketch but i used it as my masto wallpaper for the longest time because it was the only thing i had that was melvian v2. it finally got replaced when i brought 3d melvian to life.

what if i pissed myself off by drawing a bunch of dragon heads without erasing or using the transform tool?

v1 logo and its size-optimized versions for favicons. used mainly in melvian.xyz, used in early renditions of melvian.net but was replaced with a new logo in march 2025.

v1 badge. used until the introduction of melvian.net

v1 badge prototype. the m has serifs so the letter is more easily readable, but having it sideways to match the head orientation felt weird.

website launch update header prior to cleanup

melvian profile pic used from jan 22 to around october. this was originally the ‘discord’ version as room was made on the bottom for the status indicator, but i quickly ended up using this for masto too.

melvian debut temporary wallpaper. was never proud of it, but i knew i’d do a better version very soon (see the ’letters’ animation). note that this was intended to be an animated wallpaper on masto, but when the ‘real’ wallpaper debuted it was just a still frame because animated wallpapers on masto aren’t so good.
