Tumu Mana
This is my solo dev project for Kenney Jam 2025 : theme was Power.
// Personnal LORE around theme:
Being a polynesian islander myself made me realise how much urbanism is taking over natural habitats when I studied in more modern actual occidental cities. I wanted to enlight this subject in a videogame since many years now so I thought it could be interesting the give back nature its power.
Since Mana is a polynesian concept well-known in videogames, I found it interesting to try to give it back its polynesian meaning : a natural power you can feel around you in preserved natural spots.
Tumu is a tahitian word that describe "sapling or [fruit] tree" : I've studied permaculture for a while and I wished to translate beneficial wildlife interactions into game mechanics. Sadly, gamejam timing was too short to integrate any combo system between plants : we'll see it later !
// Game infos :
This game is a tower defense like Plants Vs Zombies, fully playable by mouse : garden to survive until the timer ends !
Semi hidden mechanics :
- You can check your lifebar status via Mana count VFX
- Don't hesitate to stack plants from different layers on a single tile, 'cause why not !
Known glitches & issues :
- Don't wait too long in startscreen : timer is running so you'll end up overrun by enemies. Don't worry, just relaunch instantly and it's fixed
- Web export & full mouse controls technically permits to play on mobile but since godot's renderer very glitchy, you're strongly advised to play on desktop browsers or via windows build
