The questions of standards pricing and free (or less expensive) availability, or lack thereof, is an ongoing source of ... mmm, let's say "discussion" ... within JTC and its subcommittees, and among JTC1, ISO, and IEC management boards. So far, I am not aware that the parent bodies have rushed to embrace suggestions for modifying the pricing schemes.
