Did you read the Ashur email? When the NSA did provide their so-called rationale, they did not really address even the most basic concerns raised by the ISO committee. That would be grounds for rejection_regardless_ of who was pushing the cipher. That's why I stand by my statement that the rejection was on a technical basis, not political.
