Looks like SystemD did manage to screw that up for some people

Let's see.

  • It's not as if people weren't having problems integrating an UPS in their setup before systemd. The fact that the details of System-V init's configuration vary from distribution to distribution doesn't really help a lot here, either. At least with systemd things are more uniform, which makes it easier for UPS vendors to provide documentation and configuration files applying to more distributions.
  • This is seriously the best you can do? None of the postings you cite is even halfway recent, and on the whole the problems they show have nothing to do with systemd not supporting UPS interaction. In particular, we have no idea of the number of people who managed to get their UPS running with systemd without a hitch, because these people don't tend to show up on mailing lists. Considering that most modern distributions default to systemd and that probably more than four people in the world are using a Linux server with a UPS, systemd doesn't seem to be doing so badly.

*raises a hand* I currently have five different machines with UPSes running systemd, with no problems at all.

I've got one as well as well as a freebsd based pfsense box hooked up as well (hooked up via network monitoring). Seems the UPS likes to send out a powerfailure notice when it does a system test and I was waking up to servers that are shutdown every 14 days. Both the Debian Jessie and the pfsense.

(I shut down the testing after the second time confirmed it wasn't a once off) Unfortunately I have to shutoff power from the UPS to upgrade the firmware, which has delayed my effort to fix the problem.
