same problem here. we support SSL, but customers generally don't have the knowledge to self-sign, and don't want the cost (or more likely haven't got the skillz) to buy a signed cert from someone (also, it's more tricky to get a signed cert for a LAN only machine). end result is typically it doesn't get used.
