Mageia 1

Mageia 1 has been released. Mageia is a community driven fork of Mandriva that began in September 2010. This release contains tools that will be familiar to Mandriva users, and a migration guide is available to upgrade to this release from an existing Mandriva install. See the release notes for more information.

My first impression is excellent. The install was clean and functional. The rpm package list is still less extended than Mandriva, but I guess it is a matter of time until the list becomes comparable.

Slick and "just works". May succeed Mandriva, especially if our much-loved Mandriva contracts into a smaller remnant, e.g. dropping gnome support if this is what is happening.
