Thank you for your interest in volunteering with the East of the River Mutual Aid Network. Scary times like these call for us to come together as a community and take care of one another! In order to slow down the spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus) and do our part to prevent our hospital systems from being overwhelmed, we need to practice as much social distancing as possible. At any time, if you need some support (whether or not you have coronavirus), please contact East of the River Mutual Aid Network hotline at (202) 630-0336 and describe the situation and need. For those who are volunteering their services, please take a moment to check out this COVID-19 Safety Practices for Mutual Aid Food & Supply Distribution Zine: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1jLu8FQ4Z29vbXKmq63XZSWOdaMZP3aHk PLEASE DO NOT VOLUNTEER IF YOUR HEALTH OR FAMILY'S HEALTH IS AT-RISK AND/OR YOU ARE EXPERIENCING ANY SYMPTOMS OR FEELING SICK, INCLUDING ALLERGIES.

In the wake of the COVID-19, the people of D.C. are mobilizing to launch and expand real grassroots mutual aid efforts. We are raising funds for East of the River (EOR) Mutual Aid in Washington, D.C. Our partners include Black Lives Matter DC, Black Swan Academy, Peace House DC, and Peace Fellowship Church. EOR is a grassroots, community-focused and -led network for folks in DC (District of Columbia) who are engaged in or are looking to plug in. We are purchasing supplies to make hygiene bags, groceries and cleaning supplies and provide other support including small home repairs, school supplies, winter coats, assistance with utility bills, and other basic needs that our neighbors have. We are working to support as many of our neighbors who are housing and food insecure as many people as possible who need support East of the River in Wards 7 and 8.
