European Journal of Medical Research - New structures at EJMR

Over recent months EJMR has modernised and updated its structure and manuscript handling pathways in order to manage in the most fair and efficient way the large volume of manuscripts we now receive.  As a result, we have established six major thematic sections – namely:

  • Circulation,
  • Infection Immunity and Inflammation,
  • Metabolism and Reproductive Medicine,
  • Neuroscience,
  • Oncology,
  • Surgery and Therapeutic Innovation.

Each section is headed by an experienced Deputy Editor (https://link.springer.com/journal/40001/editorial-board) supported by a small team of Senior Editors and a larger team of Associate Editors. Following triage and external peer review by at least two independent reviewers, and subsequent rounds of revision and re-review, all final decisions on submitted manuscripts will now be made at the senior editorial level thus improving consistency and fairness across the journal. These changes are in addition to the appointment earlier this year of Professor Gaetano Isola, who leads our reviews strategy in his role as Deputy Editor for Reviews. As a result of these changes, we have already seen a significant reduction in turnaround time at the journal as well as an improved quality and impact of accepted papers.
