Removed Comment For Linux, it will very much depend on what OS you are using. On Mint you just right-click the bar, click "Panel Settings", and adjust the slider called panel setting. Hell, depending on which version of Windows you are running, you might not be able to change the taskbar to the edge of the screen you would like, or change the size, without going into the Registry. That is something that normal people care about, and those same people should not be in the Registry. by DerisionConsulting@lemmy.ca

Removed Comment More like: Linux Breaks 1. Check kernel buffer for errors 2. Search Google for error message 3. Find someone else who had the same problem with the outlined fix. Possibly even a wiki article (it's always the ArchWiki, too) about the problem 4. Apply the fix, and keep using the same install without needing to reinstall. The thing I like about Linux the most is that even when it breaks, it's generally fixable if you're savvy enough to know where to look. But there are some errors on Windows that are just flatly un-fixable. If the Registry and backup get toasted, you're SOL. Enjoy reinstalling. Even if you hurt your install bad enough to stop it from booting, you can generally boot into a live environment, `chroot` into your broken install, and repair it. by BluescreenOfDeath

Removed Comment I was going to swap to Linux because I don't want to update to windows 11. Is there a way to just get Linux installed and not have to do anything extra to keep it working? Edited to add I just realised this is that super edgy anti Linux community, although it would be hilarious to get advice here. by Luvs2Spuj
