That's why I call the Kelvin timeline "Star Trek 90210" and write it out of my head-canon. Jar-Jar Abrams did not make real Star Trek (nor real Star Wars, IMO). (Didn't Abrams even say in an interview that he'd never watched Trek?) Star Trek 90210 was a fun fan fic to get people interested in "real" Star Trek.

I was not anticipating a two part episode and I'm kind of bummed that it will be a while before we see a conclusion. This makes me think that maybe there was a possibility of them not getting picked up for another season.
