I don't think anybody would be competent to marry below 21? ( full brain myelation: the weirdness messing-with function is finished, then, which is why places having 21 as the legal-drinking-age have noticeably fewer road-deaths created by young drivers: unfinished brains are much more easily derailed ) Something like that. The evidence of the high-drinking-age eradicating much road-slaughter proves, in my eyes, that age-of-maturity ought be there. ( mind you, I'm against the idiotic "you're either a child XOR an adult: there's no such thing as any intermediate level of development" dogma. We need to have multiple different ages of responsibility: graduated growing-up, if that's a good phrasing of it. Both for responsibilities & rights. Same as at the other end of life: remove rights as responsibility deteriorates, based on actual-performance measurement. Make the legal-framework match Nature, not hold-to ideology ) Childhood & youthhood ought be much less stressful, much more exploring their, & life's, meanings.
