To say nothing of Indian culture which can only be described as an extreme form of individualism, the civil governments are constantly broken and dysfunctional. It will never be a communist country. Removed Comment Perhaps you should have expressed better but it is surprising people think this is a hot take, like as if climate change isn't a hard deadline on mass deaths from heatwaves, migrations, starvations etc. India is at the top or near the top on all these vulnerabilities. People ask why are they special if they couldn't just have a revolution in the future but the global south got 20 years, maybe 30-40 if we're optimistic and you shouldn't be, see all the "worse/faster than expected headlines all the time. How long does a revolution take? How long after that are you going to realize that climate change should be your priority? How do you deal with that considering all other deep rooted social issues too. Are you going to tell people that the whole industrialization shit is a grifter myth? The modern economy needs to be about self sustainability and quality of life not stupid metrics about growth and GDP discourse. You can't build Chinese like supply chains and factories because they started this 30-40 years ago and now they benefit from the global trade status quo. They too will face issues when global trade becomes unsustainable. A communist revolution in the 21st century can't even begin to look at China as an example. The conditions will never be the same as they were in 1990-2000s. It is extremely doubtful Indian communists will realize this. Given the discourse around industrialization I think almost everyone just thinks build factories and economy goes brrr as if we're stuck on the same period. Almost our own end of history thinking. And all of this while still arguing for climate change justice, the imperialists absolutely need to pollute and consume less, they should be forced to if necessary, but it isn't a trade off for us to pretend the year is still 2005. Ultimately you're absolutely right to be pessimistic, but I also understand why people don't like it, either way it is what it is. by BynarsAreOk [none/use name]@hexbear.net

Removed Comment India is a humanitarian disaster that the world will eventually have to pay for. I say this as someone of desi origin, maybe it’s the abundance of self hate but I rarely see anything good coming out of the country and predict it will only get worse. I complain about how South Asian hate is the most acceptable form of racism and SA’s are constantly at the butt end of abuse in the West, and while none of this is acceptable, India is a massive shitshow of epic proportions.
