Removed Comment I am a grapheneOS hater. I carry a deep seated resentment towards them and use every opportunity to shit on the project. as far as I know, nobody's paying me to hate on them nor have I received any instructions on how to be a better hater and whatnot, I do alla that shit for free. the idea that the only way I can not get assraped on the reg is to give a shitload of money to google and then use this elitist OS is something I have a gigantic problem with. my whole infra - desktopS, laptopS, phoneS, tablet - doesn't break $200 **in total**. 10-20 years old tech, running the latest software, as secure and feature-rich as I want it to be. gibson's "street finds its own uses for things" in vivo, that's what democratizing tech should be like. instituting an artificial entry barrier of multiples of that for *one* device is fucking preposterous. the "refurbished" route advocated for poor folks is a) phantasm, no such thing exists, them is *used* phones and b) for stuff that someone rubbed, spat on, took to the shitter, dogknows what else, the price is $50, not fucking multiples of that. if they made a non-TPM-hardware-backed gos-lite, I'd shut the fuck about it. if the only users for gos were people liberating their pixels, I'd shut the fuck up about it. if it was some jason bournes that need alla that evil-maid & friends shit, I'd shut the fuck up about it. but clueless influenzos push this idiotic narrative that that's the only possible way to escape google's clutches because it makes for an easy video and so this crap persists. gos verily has more privacy protections than lineageOS. but the latter is more than enough for the 99% of users that ain't got fucking 5eyes after them - a lost or stolen device don't compromise you and you're free from the apple/google duopoly, not to mention, you're repurposing shit meant for the landfill. if you thing gos is a such an awesome idea, that'd be like if linux could run only on thinkpads and only on the most recent models. would you be into it? this diatribe in OP don't make me reconsider any of my positions, and as denpok singh wisely stated "hate in the hands of the enlightened can be a tool for great change" in conclusion, gos hater for life, peace. by glitching@lemmy.ml

Removed Comment Telegram never claimed the default E2E exists. Nor it never ever suggested that in advertisings. They only stated that the protocol payload in non-secret chats is secure in traffic between open-source clients and their cloud, if ever monitored (e.g. MITM). Those "average" who assume security don't need security but common sense and do their manual research prior trust random articles and "reveals" like yours, and this is what you should teach for if you have time for it and desire; this would at least be actually appreciated, valued, and make a dear change in the infinitely magnificent world, dear @archipc@lemmy.ml ... If you will ever be actually interested, please check the following: > Telegram generates a long-term identifier, called `auth_key_id`, on every client device. This identifier does not change depending on where the client is connecting from. > Source: <http://web.archive.org/web/20260326213422/https://rys.io/en/179.html> by Artwork@lemmy.world
reason: arguing telegram is ok because users don't need security, and also arguing those same "average" users will be mislead by reading that telegram lacks security... is this a joke?

Removed Comment Telegram is used by Ukrainian armed forces for military actions, ruskie pests use it too for the same... so its probably hard to hack, as these REALLY want to see the messages of each other... Signal is a crap, if you really want a surely private thing, you should use decentralised things, like matrix, or even serverless things like tox. by disconnectikacio@lemmy.world

Removed Comment > By requiring phone numbers, Signal, despite its good encryption, inherently builds a social graph. There's no such social graph to speak of. Signal does not know who is speaking to whom. > A three-letter agency can take the map of connections Three-letter agencies have served them legal subpoenas many many times and they never turn over anything more than the above information. > It's a perfect filter: "Show me everyone paranoid enough to use crypto." You're basically raising your hand. Filter for...what, exactly? The hundreds of millions of people who value private and secure communications? > So even if Signal's intentions are pure, we'd never know how the data it collects is being used. Removed Comment Among the meaningless comments made by people who are incapable of rational thinking, these few are actually meaningful and reasonable. From [@Ildsaye@hexbear.net](https://hexbear.net/u/Ildsaye) > Surveillance gives terrorists like the US and its Zionist appendage a huge advantage, and the working class should not be surrendering its data to them without a fight. From [@artyom@piefed.social](https://piefed.social/u/artyom) > https://gizmodo.com/reddit-meta-and-google-voluntarily-gave-dhs-info-of-anti-ice-users-report-says-2000722279 However those comments can only prove Surveillance are unacceptable in America and Zionist related countries, Can anyone provide a counterpoint for other countries like Russia, China, India, Japan, South Korea... by tatoko556@reddthat.com
