Ehhhh... I don't really object to fictional zoophilic material (especially if it involves species that don't exist, such as Pokémon), *but* practicing IRL zoophiles should be punished and exiled from furry spaces since they're actually abusing real animals and causing legitimate harms.

[@Eccitaze](https://yiffit.net/u/Eccitaze) Nah, actually zoos tend to take excellent care of their partners. To imply that all sexually active zoos cause abuse or harm is flatly wrong, and really appears to be a bad-faith argument. The reality is far more nuanced than that, and I hope you take the time to learn about that nuance. Also, furry spaces are our spaces too. We've been here since the beginning, and neither you nor anybody else will "exile" us. You can coexist with us with a clear mind, but "punishing" us won't work.

This goes a bit off-topic from the thread, but I'm curious about the harm/harmlessness aspect (and you don't need to answer if you don't want to): A human can seem perfectly content on the outside but be in emotional turmoil on the inside, and this could apply to non-human animals as well (considering many mask physical injuries already). But we really don't have any way of knowing that for certain as we can't really ask. Hence, do you ever worry that being sexually active with a non-human animal could be causing invisible psychological/emotional damage the animal has limited ways to handle and convey?

[@veloxization](https://yiffit.net/u/veloxization) I see that as a responsibility for anyone who cares for dogs in all aspects of canine care. I believe that dogs don't regard sex as special. They don't have hangups like we do. That's not to say that it's all always good or always bad. Just like sex between humans, there is unfortunately a lot of abuse happening. But there's also a lot of mutually pleasurable sex happening. And everything in the grey area in between.

Yeeeeeaaaaaahhhhhh no. Animals are not capable of providing or withdrawing consent, cannot communicate with others to report sexual abuse, and sexual activity with humans frequently causes physical injury to the animal. It is impossible to have a healthy sexual relationship with an animal. From the bottom of my heart: Get help. And a hearty fuck you for making me search "zoophilia psychological effect on animals" on DDG and ruining my day with the disturbing shit I had to read while fact checking myself.

[@Eccitaze](https://yiffit.net/u/Eccitaze) [@harleythegreat](https://feral.cafe/@harleythegreat) I do hope that you are at least vegan and working with your friends to make sure all our society stops killing non-human animals. I'm zoo but I think it is a more pressing matter for animals, non-human included. It is a sophism, yes, but food for thoughts though.

[@Eccitaze](https://yiffit.net/u/Eccitaze) Responding specifically to your "get help" comment, are you advocating for conversion therapy? Or are you open to accepting how real, licensed therapists work with zoo patients? I am out as zoo to my therapist. It's not an issue since I'm not causing any harm (by either of our definitions!). What IS an issue, however, is the violence and harassment I and others receive simply for existing. I urge you to listen to this podcast episode about zoos and therapy: [https://zoo.wtf/s3e3-get-help/](https://zoo.wtf/s3e3-get-help/)
