If I have to pick one album that stands out as Ground Zero for Doom Folk to come of age, it's Mean Bone by Buzzard. Buzzard has been kicking around for a few years now, but this feels like the definitive statement of an idea whose time has come. No quarter is given on the cultural/political commentary on this album, and it hits HARD with its concept. Essential.
