You are a truck driver carrying your cargo along a long and lonely route. But you soon realize there's more on this road than rest stops and deer crossings. There is something else. Something sinister. Something foreboding. Something you only catch out of the corner of your eye. What does it have in store for you? Will you survive to see your destination? If so, will you be the same person you were when you left?
This is a journaling/narration storybuilding game inspired by the world of Alice Isn't Dead and the gameplay of Yahtzee (and similar dice games). It can be played alone or with a collaborative group.

Would it be ok for you if I (without using AI) if I translate Highway Haunt to Swedish? And if so, would you be ok if we used Highway Haunt in a podcast actual play episode? We'll link to your itch page of course! Would that be ok? Or du you prefer we'd play the game using the English rules?
Yes to both - I would be honored! Shoot me a message at jaclyn [dot] lewis [dot] reads [at] gmail [dot] com or via my contact form so I can get you the plain-text version and sort out all the other details. My only desire to have you play the game in English would be so that I personally can listen to it, which is outweighed by my desire to have more non-English TTRPG creations in the world.
hi!! this is such a fantastic game, and it was my first attempt at a solo rpg, i love it so much!!! i didn't actually manage to finish my first playthrough, but now that i'm more familiar with the genre i really want to try again. i actually really like some of the stuff i wrote for that first attempt haha
the setting is so unusual and so delightful!! not to mention very creepy....
also, i was wondering if you would let me translate the game to brazilian portuguese? i'm currently trying to build my portfolio, so i'd only ask that you credit me, if you let me translate it. i also really want to make my friends play it shksbdkdhd
either way, i love this concept!! one of my favorite one page rpgs for sure!
I'm so glad you liked it! And I would be honored to have you translate the game; reach out at jaclyn [dot] lewis [dot] reads [at] gmail [dot] com or via my contact form so I can get you a plain-text version to work from and make sure I get the right crediting info straightened out.
i love this game!! the prompts & inspiration tables are incredibly juicy. so many vibes packed into two pages!!! i somehow never played yahtzee or games like it, so the dice mechanics were totally novel to me hahaha. i adore the feeling of how that little extra chanciness & "win/lose" edge entwines with the narrative mechanics & everything is so evocatively written 🖤
i make a podcast where i have multiple people play the same solo game, then i edit the playthroughs together to show off different playstyles & the like. i played this game on a bonus stream earlier this year & ended up loving it so much that i also wanted it to be a mainline series. the first episode just came out & there will be three episodes in total. i'm super excited by the very different stories that developed lmao & it's very much a credit to your design. thanks for such a cool simple effective fun snappy little game!!!!!
Thank you for such a thoughtful and kind review (if I have one thing going for me from a game-design standpoint, it's definitely vibes)! I absolutely LOVE hearing people play my games, so I will 100% be giving those episodes a listen. What a cool concept!
Tested Highway haunt to get inspo for SOLO-RPG-JAM 2025. I had a blast. Simple yet fun and effective design. Can see how this would make a great beer and pretzels game with friends. Actually gonna try that out too :) Good work!
I'm so glad to hear it! That's exactly what I was going for. And if one-page games could have quotes on the back, "this would make a great beer and pretzels game with friends" is stellar.
Hello! I'd like to include this in a printed compendium of games, part of the Tiny Tome series. Please let me know if you're interested.
Very much so! I loved the first Tiny Tome book. You can reach out at jaclyn [dot] lewis [dot] reads [at] gmail [dot] com or via my contact form
Done :)
