Protect the island of San Miguel from the coming storm! Choose the right projects to upgrade the island’s safety, and connect with fellow people of the island to learn their stories and understand what needs protecting. Become part of the community and work together to save the day! 

How To Play:

The island is facing immense flooding and an oncoming storm, and needs protection. The islanders have faced these challenges before and have gotten good at understanding when a disaster is going to come. Talk to islanders by clicking on dialogue bubbles in the map. Once you know where a disaster is coming from and whether or not it's a flood or a storm, you can plan accordingly using the build menu. You can build flood walls by clicking on the flood wall button and selecting a valid tile on the map, or you can swap two valid tiles by clicking on the move button and either clicking on two tiles, or by dragging one tile to the position of another. If you think you've planned enough, you can click the next phase button to move to the next phase. A disaster will come in and you can see if you've planned well! Once a disaster is over, make sure the next phase button is pressed so you can go to the next turn!

Failure is dependent on how many houses are flooded. Make sure to save what you can!

Our goal with this game is to raise awareness about the real steps that can be taken to build community resilience to flooding, and demonstrate the tradeoffs being made in at-risk communities. Preparing for flood disasters is not a perfect science, but by integrating clever planning, cutting edge technology, and especially interfacing with the affected community, these disasters can be mitigated.

Cool game! My only concerns were due to me not reading the information on the page, but after actually paying attention and reading this, I had a lot more fun playing through the first level. My only confusion after the level was which disaster to prepare for as the action bar uses the same icon for both the tsunami and hurricane. Overall though, I did have fun trying to come up with different solutions to win the level.

Beautiful Game! I love the story, message, art, and mechanic, it's simple and gets the point across in a fun way! I will say I was a bit confused about the order of events, and how to properly place the walls with the buildings and environment in the way, along with the fact that the walls don't angle according to which side of the island we are placing them on. But overall, I really enjoyed this!

Great Game. It can get confusing where the wave is coming from, until like after 3 games I realize every game it comes from the same side. Also, the flood wall appearance is horizontal which was confusing when the waves came from the sides. Overall this is a great game concept that needs more work.
