I really like the concept, it reminds me almost of Zork or Myst, it's really the start of a great story roguelike. My only gripe is that the placing of tiles and making paths and going to the waypoints is all too easy and exploitable, the game would benefit from a bit more challenge and a revamped tile placing logic, maybe making it so only certain numbers of certain types of tiles can be connected like a reverse minesweeper, like only 1 river can be attached to 1 desert but 1 river can be attached to 2 meadows, etc. Besides that, it was a very enjoyable little journey and I love how you made an atmosphere with limited graphics, that's not easy.
