S.S. HEALDTON, Standard Oil tanker which was torpedoed 25 miles in the middle of what had previously been known as one of the "safety zones" in the barred area on March 21, 1917. WWI American flying ace Eddie Rickenbacker was born on October 8, 1890 in Columbus, Ohio. In addition to flying planes and even before WWI, Rickenbacker was an avid race car driver and was considered one of the best in the nation.
