Soul Ledger
A downloadable game for Windows
You died with sins still fresh on your record. Instead of instant fiery pits, you’ve been offered a deal, sort the souls of others, and maybe you’ll earn your own second chance.
Each file is a life, good deeds, bad habits, and suspicious excuses. Send them up, down, or spinning back to try again.
Be careful, mistakes add up, and failure means your redemption arc ends where it began... back in torment.
(Sorry if the balancing is off, I tried my best to balance it within the time period given)
Known bugs: Heads up! When you reach an ending, your sound settings reset for the next new game. I’ll be fixing that after the game jam!
Want to judge a soul? First, [E] while looking at the papers to pull up their paperwork. This shifts the camera to the paper, where you can then use the button on the left of the paperwork if it doesn't match the soul in front of you.
If it matches you can then Press [E] while looking at the elevator buttons to shift the camera to them, then click to pick where the soul rides out eternity.
if you’re impatient in dialogue, you can use [E] again to skip all that dramatic typing.
This project was developed for Jamsepticeye 2025 by HoneyBellz, HoneyBellz is a solo dev who's goal was to create a game in under 5 days with the theme "Death is an Opportunity" and in this case the opportunity is to get a second chance, to prove that you are worthy of another attempt at life. In the game there are around 185 different things people in life can be know for, Some are completely wacky things made up on an extremely sleep deprived brain and other things are more grounded in reality, You'll have to decided if they really deserve eternal torment for a simple mistake or minor crime.
There are currently 2 Endings in the game, However if there is enough support for the game I'd like to add several others including adding bribes to the game and an ending for that.
One of my biggest goals in the game was to not only make something repayable and easily expandable so that if I get enough support I can continue expanding on the game, but I also wanted to make something artistic and something I can be proud to show friends.
The main Inspo for the games art style was Tim Burton's character art I wanted something where the models seemed warped and distorted, My biggest boss fight making this game wasn’t a soul, it was coding. From creating my first save system to adding endings, tutorials, and teaching the 2D characters how to respect the 3D lighting and not glow in the dark, this was a real trial by fire.
The game was completely made solo by HoneyBellz however I did use some free assets
