I loaded the game here a couple months ago and I couldn't start it. Now I found the source code on another website. Using Godot 3.5.3 I was able to create a usable version for my 32 bit Linux system. The game looks high quality and professionally made. The game will be my pastime for the next days.

thank you ! https://github.com/HarmonyHoney/ROTA i hope you are getting the source from github ! what did you change to get it running ?

(+1)

Yes, I found the link  to the source code on Github on another website.

I play the game with a 32 bit executable .x86 which contains the pck file.

This works perfectly for me.

Thank you!

I am using MX-15 Debian Jessie 32 bit

Nice ! You are welcome (-:

It's the same for me as I've read in some places on the internet: at some point, I lose the motivation to continue playing. I feel like it's always the same thing over and over again. By the time this point came, I had already been playing for almost an hour. Getting back into the game a few days later proved very difficult, as I no longer knew where I was and what I had to do next.

There is a point where I throw the box two squares. The box in the screenshot came from the top left and flew one square further over the bench.

I'm not sure if this is a bug or if it's intentional. Since I didn't realize beforehand that this would work, I had to think about it for a long time.

Best regards

well done ! yup that's intentional (=
ROTA is a brain scratching game, I'm glad it go you thinking !

Hey there. I tested this out, and, there's no ability to actually disable all the contents in the Controller Setup section. Every line of it has to have something listed.

yup thats intended ! may i ask why you want to disable controller inputs ?

I ran a few more tests. Keybinders often end up having frivolous limitations, or (less often) they'll become unreliable. This game's keybinder doesn't have either of those problems, so although I normally don't like keybinders in PC games, I think ROTA is going to end up being a big exception to that.

thanks !

Hi, a really nice Puzzle game with 49 great levels. The only level I did not enjoy is the one where you have 4 rotating blocks and have to fly with them to the gem and back to the door. Once I figured out how to prevent the blocks from falling apart, it felt too tedious to do the same few moves over and over again.

Now that I collected all 50 gems, I will probably open Godot and look around in the sourcecode a bit. Really looking forward seeing how a complete game is made. :)

(+1)

aa thx 4 the great feedback!! im glad you had fun with 98% of the puzzles xD yeah that level is a long haul (-;

please look around the code! peeking at open source games helped me make ROTA !

(+1)

Hello in the metadata section you can also fill source code license field

thx !

i picked this up and finished it recently, really really good puzzles. but mostly i wanted to thank you for open-sourcing it! i’ve been wanting to learn godot recently and this ended up being super informative, both for just basic technical solutions and also for organization/interaction conventions. ive been tweaking random parts of it to add/change things i thought would be cool, and it’s been way more helpful than just following a tutorial. much love <3

(+2)

You are welcome! That's awesome thank you so much!! I'm stoked you are poking around and modifying the game!<3 (+: Hope this helps you get comfy with Godot! ^.^

Great game! Though for nostalgia's sake, I would still like to access the really old build (when the game art was just black and white). Glad that you could  finish your project.

I showcased this for IGC on my YouTube channel:

So much to say about this awesome and colorful game. That alone is enough to hold this whole thing together, but the puzzles are unique and rewarding. I love that a sudden unexpected boof can just be a chill opportunity to try again, but this game is neither difficult nor easy, it's just letting you exist in a tasteful and satisfying aesthetic.

There's no real way to start this review without saying this: Yes! Only a few months after having played the demo for this game (a demo that was a couple of years old and had barely any updates), this game got a full release and I'm beyond happy because of it!

Rota is a puzzle platformer that has your rotate your gravity and position boxes (also with changeable gravities) in order to collect gems and exits from each level. This simple concept lends itself beautifully to the game as there were a total of 50 unique levels; each level builds upon past levels in order to both be challenging while also making sure that the player has the strategies and techniques in order to progress through the game. The artwork is very springy and light which adds a nice feeling of warmth to the game while the music is chill and non-invasive; both of these honestly add to the atmosphere of the game in the way of allowing the player to just relax as they progress through the levels.

All in all, this was an amazing platformer that I wasn't too sure would ever see the light of day; it's a game that really understands how to teach the player new things, while continuously throwing obstacles at them that requires planning and past techniques!

My playthrough (this is version 1.0; some puzzles and techniques I used in here have probably been patched as of the newest versions :D):

Just purchased, I'll give it a go on my Steam Deck later!

Did a preliminary test with the Linux build from itch.io, works great on my Steam Deck!

(+2)

Is there a demo to play?

hey i just released a demo yesterday!!(: go ahead and play ^.^

(+3)

This is so good! I love the puzzles! At first i thought it would be a simple "rotate your screen" puzzle, but it is much more imo! I really like it! Super recommended!

My brain bleeds with some of the puzzles.

(+1)

haha love to hear it! thank youu!^.^

(+3)

Fantastic game! A ton of fun and a great overall atmosphere.
