Etherlink: main launch
This meta-milestone centralizes the Tezos core development efforts in producing the first ever EVM solution on Tezos, relying on smart rollups: Etherlink. It can be seen as a continuation of %Etherlink: road to Mainnet.
When starting this milestone, the Beta rollout version of Etherlink was already completed and tested on Ghostnet, and about to be released on Mainnet. It features:
- a good EVM compatibility, as shown by real world scenarios and partners' integration on Ghostnet;
- a sequencer for low latency;
- a decentralized governance through three Layer 1 smart contracts subject to bakers' vote to:
- push kernel upgrades;
- push security kernel upgrades;
- choose a sequencer operator;
- a user interface to deposit XTZ to Etherlink.
We are now targeting main launch with polished edges for a user experience that will be as smooth as possible, and also features for after the official launch.
We direct our work on three topics:
-
%Etherlink: compatibility for launch to improve EVM compatibility even further (implementing more RPCs); - %Etherlink: FA token bridge to allow tokens to be exchanged between Etherlink and Tezos Layer 1, for instance tzBTC or USDT, which are features expected by users;
- %Etherlink: EVM and rollup node to improve tooling (monitoring, upgrade automation, etc.);
- %Etherlink: sequencer with threshold encryption so that Etherlink features a multi-node sequencer and MEV protection (through threshold encryption).
The project also keeps track of its backlog: %Etherlink: backlog.
