Freezing and busy CPU when creating flowed text, soon after regular text at start

Steps to reproduce:

1. fresh configs
2. start Inkscape
3. hit F8 (it switches to the "Create and edit text objects" tool)
4. click the canvas to create some regular text
5. then click and drag elsewhere on the artboard to create a flowed text box

What happened?

Inkscape becomes unresponsive with busy CPU.

What should have happened?

No freezing, let type in a flowed text box.

Inkscape Version and Operating System:

• Inkscape Version: 1.0beta1 (bcc51820, 2019-11-20)
• Operating System: Ubuntu
• Operating System version: 14.04
