Zoom with Middle Click Drag
Problem
Navigating with pen tablet is inconvenient.
How it Works
Zooming works usually by pressing + - and scrolling with mouse. Zooming with mouse scrolling is smooth and focused to pointer as expected but not achievable with pen tablet control. While zooming with keyboard shortcut is choppy and doesn't navigate to pointer which is quite hard because user needs to pan around to a desired view. There's also a feature to zoom to area with shift + middle click drag but it's not common in other software and it's not possible to zoom out with that.
User that used to work with digital painting and 3D programs expects to have a feature to zoom, pan, and rotate with middle click. (usually available on their pen)
Right now middle click control only works with panning and rotation.
How to Fix
Provide control for smooth zooming (like Ctrl + Scroll) with Ctrl or Shift + Middle click Drag.
The navigation for pen tablet user could be something like this:
-
Ctrl+Middle Click Dragto Zoom -
Shift+Middle Click Dragto Rotate -
Middle Click Dragto Pan around
How Other Software Handle
Adobe Illustrator: from what I know doesn't support this by default. Needs a little workaround.
Krita:
-
Ctrl+Middle Click Dragto Zoom -
Shift+Middle Click Dragto Rotate -
Middle Click Dragto Pan around
Blender:
-
Ctrl+Middle Click Dragto Zoom -
Shift+Middle Click Dragto Pan -
Middle Click Dragto Rotate
