Toggling Page Grid and Guides works only on second keystroke

Steps to reproduce:

• Open Inkscape
• Try toggling Page Grid using "#" keystroke

(works like that for Guides too, but since there are none in a new document, it one would need a bit more steps to show misbehaving)

What happened?

On the first keystroke, a checkmark appears in the menu, but the change isn't reflected on the canvas. The second keystroke will show the grid on the canvas, while also preserving the checkmark in correct "position".

What should have happened?

One keystroke should be sufficient.
