Inkscape 1.4: Tools have significant delay

Summary:

Unlike in previous versions, just selecting an object and moving it comes with a delay, even in the simplest of files, with just a rectangle inside.

I suspect this has to do with the new handles, as it takes about the same time for them to appear when you click on an object.

The same thing happens with other tools.

Steps to reproduce:

• open Inkscape
• draw rectangle
• switch to Selector tool
• click + drag new rectangle

What happened?

The rectangle is sticky. It feels like pulling off a magnet from its place. But snapping is turned off. When not dragging, just clicking, it takes a bit before object handles appear.

When drawing a rectangle, at first, the mouse pointer moves, but nothing shows up, until suddenly, there is a rectangle.

etc...

What should have happened?

Objects should move along with the mouse right away. Handles should appear without delay.
