Dialogs sometimes lock or malfunction even after restarting Inkscape
Steps to reproduce:
Unfortunately I cannot provide reliable steps for reproducing the issue
What happened?
- Panels (e.g. Objects, Layers) malfunction
- do not appear when opened or
- malfunction when they are closed or minimized (minimized bar may not appear, etc).
- These changes persist even after Inkscape is closed or re-installed, suggesting that a bad setting is written to file within the application settings.
Examples of malfunctioning include attempting to minimize a panel but the name of the panel not rendering, etc.
What should have happened?
UI components should render properly and behave as expected
Inkscape Version and Operating System:
- Inkscape Version: 1.0 beta 1
- Operating System: macOS Mojave
- Operating System version: 10.14.6
Notes
- May be related to #410 (closed) - attempted the steps there but only succeeded in making Inkscape even glitchier.
- No reliable local fix. Caches were cleared, application was re-installed, computer was rebooted, and some preference files were removed and reinstated, but the problem persisted. No idea where the problem has been saved - not all files were ever cleared at once since Inkscape's files are scattered across a wide variety of locations
- Not saving which panels (e.g. Layers, Fill & Stroke, Transform) are open and instead resetting them each session might avoid this bug
- This issue might be exclusively a rendering issue, as switching to a different window and going back to Inkscape or opening a new window such as the Document Preferences forcibly renders the panels into the otherwise blank space to the right. However, I can't tell.
