Object Properties is inactive

Steps to reproduce:

open Inkscape
make sure you have a layer and an object inside
Go to Object... (object > objects...)
Click in the Type icon on the layer to change from layer to object group
hit Shift+Ctrl+o

What happened?

object properties is still inactive.

What should have happened?

it should be active

but if I click on another object and then click again in that layer then the object properties gets active.
