New cursors do not always display the little cross that indicates the tool's click sensitive point / new cursors do not always display strokes that are used in them
Summary:
After updating my Inkscape master branch version to 1.1-dev (0a34ce10, 2020-11-17), the cursors for some of the tools did not have a visible cross at first.
The issue has been confirmed by @greytomorrow .
The problem went away after a couple stroke style changes. As long as it lasted, it was very confusing, because it was unclear where the tool will have an effect on the canvas.
After some investigation, we suspect it was caused by an unfortunate combination of preferences file and the SVG cursor using a stroke to define the cross.
A similar issue was observed with the bucket tool, which is assumed to have the same cause.
Steps to reproduce:
in the Fill and Stroke dialogue, if one of either fill or stroke opacity is 100%, then the cursor will be visible. If both fill and stroke opacity are not 100% then the cursor disappears for the tool (this bug only applies to some tools eg. rectangle, square, and a few others).
