Align on circle only works when circle has been moved at least once

Summary:

Aligning objects on a circle does not work correctly (all objects end up on the same spot on the circle) if the circle has not been moved first.

Steps to reproduce:

  • open Inkscape
  • draw 5+ stars, or other items
  • draw a circle
  • select stars, select circle (don't move it!)
  • align the stars on the circle using the third tab of the Alignment dialog

What happened?

All items end up in the same position on the circle, stacked.

What should have happened?

Items should be distributed around the circle. This works if you change the circle's color or move it before you align the objects.
