Some checkboxes in menu items do not reflect currently-selected modes (Mac, 1.0a)

Observed on Mac 1.0alpha (8a5469a, 2019-05-29).

Some checkboxes that indicate modes in the main menu do not appear to be reflecting currently-selected modes.

Instance 1:

Here is what the View > Display Mode submenu looks like when Outline mode is enabled.

Expected behavior is that the word "Outline" should have the check mark next to it.

Instance 2:

The View > Color Display Mode option always has "Normal" checked.

Note: The checkboxes in the View > Show/Hide submenu do appear to be working correctly.
