Explore visualize user counts in license over time

Problem to solve

Instances don't have a sense for how user counts have changed over time. If they've gone over their license's limit and owe true-up, we don't have a good way of showing why and how this happened.

We also have a hard time doing quarterly and semi-annual renewals, since Maximum Users currently operates on a rolling 12-month basis.

Proposal

  • Track seats used for historical and current periods. Store seats used, maximum users for month, and seats over license for each month.
  • Present this information in a chart in the License tab.
    • Present a horizontal line for the maximum users and the license level for the instance.
  • Remove the 3 existing containers here and on the admin dashboard for Users in License, Maximum Users, and Users over License.

Note: mousing over on the chart should display the tooltip month by month.

What does success look like, and how can we measure that?

  • Users, max users, and users over license can be tracked month-by-month.
  • We no longer have to use the Cohorts page for quarterly and semi-annual true-ups.
