Make renewing your license simple

Problem to solve

Make it easy to find customers.gitlab.com from the /admin/license page (and from the gitlab.com website).

Further details

Each year, when I need to renew, the process is clunky because I cannot easily find where to login to my "subscription account" as opposed to my "gitlab.com account". Even from my on-premise installation's admin page for the license (/admin/license) there is no easy way to:

  1. Get to customers.gitlab.com/plans where there is the "Sign in" button for my "subscription account".
  2. No easy way to just renew using the current "Default Payment Method" that account already has setup
  3. No "modern" way to get the license file from the /admin/license page - it is very old school (email => save attachment => upload button => file chooser => navigate to file => choose the file => OK)

Proposal

  1. Add a link to customers.gitlab.com to the /admin/license page of an on-premise installation
  2. Add a link to customers.gitlab.com from gitlab.com or about.gitlab.com or both (or make it more obvious because I cannot find it)
  3. Add a "Renew using default Payment Method" button to the /admin/license page

What does success look like, and how can we measure that?

  1. The “3. Add a "Renew using default Payment Method" button to /admin/license page” button installs a renewed license
  2. Users do not need to directly bookmark customers.gitlab.com in order to renew every year
