Do not select the leading dollar sign when copying console command

Everyone can contribute. Help move this issue forward while earning points, leveling up and collecting rewards.

Release notes

gitlab flavored markdown propose console block. It works pretty well, the rendering is good. This is possible to prefix the line with $ or #. The issue is that, when selecting the line for copy, it also selects the prefix sign.

It would be great to not select the prefix sign when selecting / copying line(s) in console block.

Problem to solve

As a conscientious documentation writer, I want to propose to the reader:

  • a nice rendering of console command lines.
  • a simple way to copy line(s) that will be pasted in console without modification.

Intended users

Whoever is writing mardown in gitlab.

User experience goal

Proposal

There are console rendering around the internet that support that feature, for example https://docs.docker.com/engine/security/rootless/.
