Brainstorm JTBD for Compliance

Background

While I (@aregnery) was doing a working collab session with Mike Long on the projects dashboard view, and Mike was inquiring about the JTBD ("jobs to be done") for Compliance which led me down a bit of a research rabbit hole.

The context I have gathered so far shows that there has been some UX Research conducted to better understand the problems that users/customers face in regards to project compliance. This has defined the Group Level Compliance MVP and its key features: Compliance Dashboard(s), Exportable Reports, Extending Audit Events API, Controls Enforcement.

In the handbook, Plan defines their main JTBD with Job Stories which are further laid for Plan:Project Management JTBD on Mural.

Creating JTBD

  • Conduct a brainstorming session with Product Management and Product Design. Write every task related to that section or feature. Reference past research projects that included interviews with target users, when you can as well as regular customer conversations.

  • Bring in the full engineering team to review the list and add any missing tasks. Allow them to up vote any 3 tasks they view as particularly important

Proposal:

Use the Handbook Page for Release Management Group – JTBD as a template or example

Output from collaboration between Matt & Austin

Snapshot a point in time

When [I need to demonstrate a group is adhering to (compliance) guidelines], I want to [create an artifact], so that I can [submit evidence of compliance (pdf, csv, screenshots)]

Enforce policies

When [a policy is relevant], I want to [set explicit parameters around work], so that I can [create boundaries that are enforced by a system]

Monitor changes

When [I am checking on adherence to policies], I want to [view all relevant information in a single place], so that I can [take action to mitigate non-conformance]

Closed issue and opened an new issue to being conducting research (ux-research#979 (closed))
