Apply label to closed issue when Merge Request accepted

Everyone can contribute. Help move this issue forward while earning points, leveling up and collecting rewards.

Problem to solve

When using Gitlab as a PM Tool, I often miss the opportunity to assign to the referenced issue a label, like [In Testing] while merging. You only can Close issues, with the "closing pattern". But most of us are not using a review-instance.com for each branch, so when you merge a branch, you want to test it and let someone else look over it.

Further details

Closing an issue (when you are working) with the board, is like adding the label closed to it, why not allow to define the next step/label to the issue, when the referenced MR was merged?

Proposal

Adding a simple dropdown, to the MR Page, where you can choose the label or labels to give to the referenced issues, after the MR was merged. If (fixed/closes/close etc. Issue)-pattern is present, then automatically pre-select [ Close ], nothing, or make it configurable for default cases.

What does success look like, and how can we measure that?

Next time when you merge some MR, you can decide about the fate of the referenced issue more flexible and faster.
