Gitter room on new project

Everyone can contribute. Help move this issue forward while earning points, leveling up and collecting rewards.

Description

When I'm creating a new project, in particular a public one, it'd be great if there was a clear single place of synchronous communication.

Gitter can provide this, but still requires manual setup. It'd be great if I can just have a Gitter room with each project I create.

Proposals

  1. Link Gitter room from the project home page and provide an option on create to create that room
  2. Have an option when creating a project to also create a Gitter room
  3. Include a Gitter link when creating the default Readme

Documentation blurb

When starting a new project, it's convenient to have a place to quickly and easily discuss and ideate. Creating issues can feel too heavy weight and slow for this, so people often opt for chat solutions.

With GitLab you can automatically add a Gitter room to your project, which will give you a chatroom scoped to that project. This makes for a great combination of having a synchronous, low-threshold way of communicating, while being easily accessible for everyone that has access to the project.

When creating a project, select the option to create a Gitter room or click the button the project dashboard to create one. Then just click on the link on the project dashboard to visit the room.
