Problem

When used in the product, there's no indication that you are on a search section. In an example like this issues page, there isn't even a level 1 heading that would indicate the purpose of the page.

Solution

Similar to the thoughts in &8176 (comment 969569145), search could be a landmark region and possibly be immediately preceded by a heading. The heading could be h2 in most instances, and if necessary use gl-sr-only to make it available only for screen reader users.
